Sneak Peek
Originally we had planned on finding an antique dresser to refinish for the nursery. After spending a few hours taking apart the changing table, sanding & painting it... we decided to take the easy way out on the dresser instead. I will keep my eye out on craigslist just in case... but if we don't find something amazing very soon, we have decided to go with this little guy from Ikea. We will put one in the nursery & one in the closet, at only $99 each, they're a great deal! I will probably switch out the hardware to help it not look so modern. I'm a little nervous that it may clash with the vintage style crib at this point.
Speaking of the changing table... the paint job is FINISHED! Here is a little peek at how it looks with the changing pad & the start of my wire basket collection! I love it so so so much!!
I have also been on the hunt for another fabric that goes well with the honeycomb fabric that I am using for the bedding. It's been tricky finding something that matches without looking too modern/grown up... but this week I found this adorable OWL fabric that I had to get my hands on!! I ordered two blankets & some fabric baskets to put in the changing table. I love the funny little faces & all of the colors on the owls...especially the owls with the pink & white bellies that match my other fabric perfectly!
And best sneak peek of all... I won a free 3D ultrasound last week so we got to see little baby girl up close!! Here she is all curled up in a ball with her leg up high on the left.
And here is her perfect little profile! I think the 3D ultrasound creeped Brandon out a little bit... everything looks so lumpy & weird but it was fun watching her move around and rub her eyes. I think he was most surprised that she wasn't already wearing a cute outfit or headband :)
Less than 18 weeks until we get to meet this sweet little babe!! I am not cut out for waiting that long for anything... SO EXCITED! :)

Books for Baby
They say that baby girl can hear us talking & that we should start reading to her while she's still in the oven. How ridiculous! But I'll probably do it :) I LOVE children's books!!
Image via Pinterest.
I started thinking the other day about all of the books we will want to buy to build up her book collection. My favorite books from when I was a kid include If You Give a Moose A Muffin (or a Mouse a cookie.. or a Pig a Pancake.. or a Pregnant Girl a Burrito...), Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, Shel Silverstein Poetry & Dr. Seuss's The Hair Book! My grandma used to read The Hair Book to me all the time when I was little, not sure why I was so obsessed with it. Maybe because I had hair down to my butt like the girl in the book. All of these books are a MUST!
Some of our other favorites that we need to get our hands on for the mini library include:
Where the Wild Things Are
The Velveteen Rabbit
Eloise
Harold & The Purple Crayon (tell me someone else remembers this book?!)
Cordouroy
The Very Hungry Caterpillar (and all Eric Carle Books)
Curious George
I know I am missing lots of other great children's books.. I will have to add to the list as I go along. I also really want to find a cute way to display some books in the nursery without going overboard. I thought about just putting a few in a wire basket by the glider. I love this display from Martha Stewart!
Yesterday was the start of week 21 - which apparently brought rib pain along with it? Boo, if this is just the tip of the discomfort iceberg, I am in hot water!
Our Third Anniversary
Today, my husband & I celebrate our third wedding anniversary.
Three years ago today, we were stuffing our faces with Happy Joes Pizza, sipping cocktails with all of our friends & family, and enjoying our first night as Mr. & Mrs. We have spent the last three years living in Sunny Florida, traveling, building our careers & drinking on the beach.
Today, we feel all grown up. Expecting our first baby in just a few short months.
Seems like just yesterday we were in high school on our first date. The years have flown by, through all of the good times & bad, we find ourselves happier than ever. He always pours my coffee in my favorite miniature animal mug, drives out of his way to pick me up cake flavored frozen yogurt on a Saturday morning & knows all the words to Hocus Pocus. He lets me get away with never folding or matching socks & never complains when I decorate for holidays two months ahead of time. I love him more than I ever have in my life. I just know he is going to be the BEST dad in the whole entire world & I can't wait for it!!
I feel so blessed & thank God every day for giving me such an amazing husband.
Cheers (with my glass of milk!) to three amazing years!

Nursery Planning: Before & After Paint
Just wanted to share some before & after pictures of the painted nursery! Before, the room was standard construction white.
And NOW, the room is a super subtle grey that makes the trim pop just a little but still leaves the room feeling like a blank canvas! Here is the corner of the room where we put the glider... my most favorite thing so far! :)
I am thinking thick white curtains for the windows - just trying to decide on a curtain rod at the moment.
Here is a close up of the glider along with the blanket that came in the mail that matches the nursery bedding. Have I mentioned that I am OBSESSED with the custom bedding?! I love this fabric SO much... wasn't sure I wanted to go with pink at all... but this fabric stole my heart! :)
Brandon took the doors off of the cabinet that I purchased on Craigslist to use as the changing table. We planned to sand them & paint them, but turns out, I love the way it looks without them!! I am not going to have a ton of surface space to decorate so I am going to leave this with open shelving for now, we will still paint the doors so we can put them on when the little one can stand up and grab onto things. Also, eventually I think it's going to turn into a hot mess in there bc let's face it, I'm not the neatest person on the planet.
The plan is to fill the top shelf with these wire baskets that I scooped up from Crate & Barrel. The small baskets fit perfectly inside the shelves, the larger one will go on top with some essentials in it.
This weekend we will paint the changing table... so excited! I am still on the hunt for the perfect dresser to go in the room as well. I know this wasn't a very entertaining post but it's time for me to head out to my 20 week ultrasound...later gators!

In other news, we painted the nursery this weekend!! Brandon was such a champ, he did almost the entire room since technically I'm not supposed to be around paint much.
For the parts of the trimming that I did, I wore a stupid facemask that made me breathe my own hot burrito breath. I was NOT a fan. So I volunteered to leave in the middle to get another gallon of paint when we ran out... and came back with ice cream. Go figure.
The color is called "Toasted White" by Glidden. I am beyond happy with the results! Even though it is still very light, the grey really makes the trim pop & gives the room an airy, soothing vibe. I will post before & after pics soon! Also, thanks to all for the comments & suggestions about the nursery, I loved reading all of your advice! I definitely noticed a consensus about the changing table being unnecessary.. which is good since I already purchased this cabinet to use.
I feel like I am getting very far ahead in nursery decorations - which is totally my style since I've also been listening to Christmas music for about a month now. Fa LA LA LA LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!! :)
